The Guardian mission is to transport local Veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifice.
The Guardians were established on September 25th, 2013, to bring this program to the Collier and Lee County areas in Southwest Florida. Six short weeks after forming, a very successful inaugural flight (Mission 1) took place on November 9th, 2013. To date we have transported nearly 1200 WWII, Korean and Vietnam veterans on this deeply emotional and well-deserved trip.
Support for these trips is provided by volunteers and is at no cost to the veterans. Top priority is given to our most senior heroes.
The Honor Flight was an extremely moving event for our Students and the Veterans they served as Guardians to.
A remarkable highlight was when two WWII Veterans, each over 100 years old, laid the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington.
All the JROTC Cadets represented their respective schools and our program well. I was very proud of them stated LTC (R) Kerrye Glass, SAI at Immokalee High School in Naples.
