The Cadets from South Grand Prairie High School Warrior Battalion recently finished their Service-Learning Project for the year. They demolished and rebuilt a fence at Haven Community Garden in Grand Prairie, Texas. Through classroom learning and instruction from construction professionals, they gained skills in worksite safety and fence construction. The project, led by Cadet Major Favor Akinfiresoye and Cadet Captain Hailey John, taught the importance of community gardens and helping food-insecure residents. Cadets removed old fence, installed new metal posts, and assisted with garden tasks. These projects, required by the U. S. Army JROTC, help develop leadership, citizenship, and service skills among cadets.
