TALLAPOOSA, GA -- Autumn Keaton is a 2020 graduate of Haralson county high school, who is studying at West Point Military Academy. Keaton was in JROTC for 3 years while in high school. She was the Valedictorian of her senior classes and participated in many other clubs: FCA and Student Leadership. She participated in the Color Guard, Academic Team, and Raiders. Keaton had leadership roles within JROTC: she was a company commander and a squad leader during her time in JROTC. Keaton lived with her grandparents and her brother. She faced some hardships in her life where some of her family members struggled with drug abuse; and the loss of one of her parents. Keaton is the first to attend college in her family and the first female in her family to enlist in the service. Keaton says JROTC gave her a purpose in life; the program made her want to help anyone she can. Her final words after revisiting the program were “You can do anything that you set your mind to, no matter the circumstances.”
