Congratulations to the Marianas High School, JROTC Unarmed team who recently represented the CNMI competing at Golden Bear West Coast National Drill Meet, being able to secure an impressive 6 trophies in total.
The Unarmed team competed in the Novice Division against 35 other different high schools and was able to win 5, 1st place trophies and 1, 2nd place trophy. They won 1st place for Inspection Unarmed Novice, Exhibition Unarmed Novice, Color Guard Unarmed Novice, and Outstanding Commander. The 2nd place trophy was the Regulation Unarmed Novice. All these 1st place trophies gave them the chance to secure the Sweepstakes Unarmed Novice which is the overall, with a 265 points gap with the 2nd place placer. Cadet Captain Alovera Abigail, the unarmed commander said that she and her unarmed team had to work hard to achieve such a great accomplishment. She said “As a leader, I couldn’t have done anything without them. Even when they stressed me out or made things difficult, I had to adapt and understand. Outside of training and drilling them, I also establish comradery. My cadets’ well-being determined their performance, and as a leader and a friend, I worried and tended to them as they needed. The most important thing I learned is that rank and position did not determine great leadership because I’ve seen my cadets grow into great leaders in the time of the drill, despite being cadets with no knowledge a few months prior. It’s surreal that we competed and dominated out there, and I know they’ll be able to again in the future.” “I knew as soon as we were told or asked to go to golden bear that my team was going to take all the first place as many as possible. When Unarmed this year was 1st in Regulation and 1st in the Exhibition. I knew we would take first in golden bear. I was and am proud of our Battalion Commander, C/LTC Dimalanta Shaina for taking 1st in color guard, I was so proud of unarmed for the 4 other trophies, and especially for our Battalion Adjutant Officer, the S1 C/CPT Alovera Abigail as commander.” said SFC (Ret.) Albert Congratulations to Saipan Southern High School, both Armed and Unarmed team who was able to compete in the Varsity Division being able to secure 4, 3rd place, 2, 2nd place, and 1, 1st place. In total, the CNMI was able to win a total of 14 trophies including the Army Traveling Trophy. Congratulations to all the hard-working and dedicated cadets who competed in Golden Bear and were able to showcase and perform. Dolphin Pride! Leads the Way! Hooahh!
