Sergeant First Class (Ret) Rodney Scott was selected for the 2023 Teacher of the Year program. SFC (R) Scott, the Army Instructor at Littlerock High School JROTC, is well respected and admired not just by students and parents, but also by his co-workers. He has a no-nonsense attitude instilling discipline in the entire Cadet/student population and encouraging them to respect their parents/guardians and authority figures.

Rodney Scott has led the Cadets to victory in two drill competitions this school year. During the Antelope Valley Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade 2022, the Littlerock Lobo Battalion Cadets took home the 1st place trophy in the Marching/Drill category against all the Air Force JROTCs in the school district, the California Cadet Corps, Navy JROTC, and the Civil Air Patrol Cadets.

Sergeant Rodney Scott is a talented educator. He inspires his students to go to college by leading by example having a Masters’ degree himself. Recognizing that there were no PE teachers at Littlerock at the beginning of the school year, Rodney volunteered to take on a PE class so students could learn about physical fitness, the importance of health, and learn about various sports. Sergeant First Class (Ret) Rodney Scott epitomizes dedication, hard work, and innovation as an educator. Rodney is a true leader who loves his teaching career. He is well deserving to be selected to be the Teacher of the Year.
