Joliet, IL – On Friday, September 29, 2023, Joliet West High School was abuzz with excitement as students, staff, and the local community came together to celebrate their annual Homecoming festivities. The day was filled with spirit, pride, and culminated in a resounding victory for the Joliet West Tigers.

The day’s events kicked off with two pep rallies during the school day, where students showcased their enthusiasm and school spirit. The Joliet West High School gymnasium reverberated with cheers and applause as students from all grades came together to support their school’s athletic teams.

After the school day came to a close, it was time for the eagerly anticipated homecoming parade. Stretching for a mile along the surrounding streets of the school, the parade was a colorful and spirited affair. Joliet West High School Army JROTC led the parade with discipline and pride, setting the tone for the festivities to come.

The Color Guard played a significant role in the day’s events, presenting the colors for both the pep rallies and the evening homecoming game. Additionally, the Sabre Guard created an elegant arc for the homecoming court to walk through during the game, adding a touch of tradition and glamour to the occasion.

The parade route was lined with cheering spectators from the community, parents, and fellow students, who waved flags, held banners, and displayed their school colors with pride. Joliet West Tiger battalion marched in the parade, representing not only their program but also the immense school spirit and pride that permeated the day.

As the sun began to set, the focus shifted to the homecoming game, where the Joliet West Tigers faced off against their opponents. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, with the stands filled to capacity and fans wearing the school’s colors. The game did not disappoint, with the Tigers emerging victorious with a score of 30-7. The crowd erupted in joy as they celebrated their team’s success.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Homecoming King, a title that carried great prestige and honor. The recipient of this coveted title was none other than Cadet Captain DeAngelo Love, who had demonstrated leadership, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to Joliet West High School Army JROTC.

The Homecoming celebrations at Joliet West High School were a resounding success, bringing together the community, students, and faculty in a day of fun, pride, and unity. The events, from the lively pep rallies to the triumphant homecoming game, left a lasting impression and showcased the strength of school spirit and camaraderie at Joliet West.
