Garfield High Recognizes Veterans Day At Playoff Game and JROTC Color Guard Weekend Observances

On November 10, 2023, members of the Garfield community, staff, faculty, and administration at Garfield High School held a post-football celebration to honor veterans of the Los Angeles community. Veterans Day is used to honor and commemorate service members. This year members of the Garfield High School administration hosted a ceremony to honor twenty veterans of the Garfield Alumni community, featuring a presentation of Colors, Sabers by the JROTC, and a performance from the Garfield High School Marching Band.

We are deeply honored to recognize Senior Army Instructor Raymond L. Eason as the honorary co-captain for the football game through a special invitation by Garfield principal Mr. Andres Favela. Additionally, the Mighty Bulldawg Battalion Color Guard team participated in four different Color Guard presentations on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Two presentations of colors were performed on the 11th month, on the 11th day, and 11th hour at Obregon Park and Cinco Puntos in East Los Angeles. And later that day at El Sereno, California, and later that evening at East Los Angeles Community College. Let us recognize and honor veterans for their gallantry and service.
