Griffin, GA – June 17, 2025 – In a moving display of selfless service and community spirit, cadets from Griffin High School proudly participated in the Griffin Habitat for Humanity home dedication ceremony on June 14th. The cadets were honored to stand alongside a deserving local family as they received the keys to their new home—an achievement made possible in part through the hard work and dedication of these young volunteers. Over the past year, the cadets contributed more than one hundred volunteer hours, working shoulder-to-shoulder with Habitat staff and community members. From putting up siding to clearing debris, their tireless efforts embodied the values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion.
“Our cadets don’t just train to lead—they lead by example,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nathaniel Flegler Jr., the Senior Army Instructor in charge of the JROTC program at Griffin High School. “By investing their time and energy into this project, they’ve helped make the dream of homeownership a reality for a family in need. That’s the kind of leadership that changes lives.”
The home dedication ceremony marked the culmination of a transformative journey—not only for the new homeowners but for the cadets as well, who witnessed firsthand the power of community and the impact of selfless service. Griffin Habitat for Humanity continues to be a vital force in providing affordable housing to families throughout the region. The involvement of cadets from Griffin High School Army JROTC highlights the importance of youth engagement in civic service and the lasting change it brings to both the community and the individual.
