Garfield High School – Army JROTC Elite Color Guard Attends El Grito Celebration City Hall

As part of Mexican Heritage month, on September 15, 2024, the Garfield High School Army JROTC Elite Color Guard along with the Escolta de Baja California Honor Guard took part in the El Grito celebration City Hall downtown, Los Angelos, CA.

“El Grito is an annual historic event and a cherished tradition in Mexico marking the beginning of the country’s fight for Independence from Spanish Rule”

“Every year on the night of September 15th, Mexicans across the globe gather to remember the passionate cry for freedom that was proclaimed by Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla in 1810. ‘This cry, known as El Grito de Delores was the rallying call that ignited the Mexican war of Independence, leading itself to the birth of a free independent nation'”
