Aug 19, 2023 Indianapolis, Indiana – Junior ROTC Cadets from Arsenal Tech High School (ATHS) demonstrated exceptional community spirit as 51 cadets and 6 additional Instructors and teachers gathered at their school on Saturday, August 19th, in the early morning for the 11th annual Colts 5K event. At precisely 5:30 AM, the assembled personnel rolled out to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, to prepare to receive the nearly 4,000 anticipated runners and walkers. JROTC Cadet responsibilities included participant check-in, distribution of coveted “Finisher” T-shirts, safeguarding valuables, and managing two crucial water stations along the route.

The race began in front of the iconic Lucas Oil Stadium, wrapped 3.1 miles through downtown city streets, and ended triumphantly on the 50-yard line of the Super Bowl XLI champion Indianapolis Colts’ home turf. Welcoming them with open arms were the ATHS JROTC Cadets, bearing refreshing bottles of water and commemorative medals for every participant.

In addition to their pivotal roles in the main race, these dedicated Cadets also lent their support to the Kids’ Fun Run, creating a memorable experience for young participants as they ran across the professional football field just like the adults and saw themselves projected on the jumbotron screens.
