I would like to recognize three individuals for their appointment to the one of the United States Service Academies as a member of the Class of 2028. This appointment is presented on behalf of the President of the United States and recognizes in each individual their desire and their potential for future service and leadership as an officer in the armed forces of the United States. Daniel Ogordi (US Military Academy), Michelle Kim (US Naval Academy), and Paul Kim (US Air Force Academy). An ROTC Scholarship typically covers full college tuition, provides a textbook allowance, and pays a stipend $400.00 per month.
The monetary value of an ROTC Scholarship can easily exceed $100,000 depending on the recipient’s choice of school and type of scholarship awarded. This year Atholton had six such individuals. Winning Army ROTC Scholarships: Andrew Arthungal (Cornell University 4yr), Andrew Christiansen (University of Utah 4yr), Edward Lee (University of Maryland 3yr), Andrew Marr (Widener University 3yr), and Vance Scott (Virginia Tech 4yr). Winning an Air Force ROTC Scholarship: Jason Lilly (Duke University 4yr). Regardless of the selected institution or the sponsoring service the end result for each of these recipients will be the same-upon graduation from the academies or colleges, they will commission as an officer into the United States Armed Forces as they pledge to defend our Constitution and our Country.
