On Thursday, 27 Oct 2022, the Army JROTC cadets of Alvarado High School (Alvarado, TX) traveled to the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas. The cadets visited the flight line, EOD working dog teams and the Air Traffic Control Tower. The lead pilot on the flight line discussed the STEM aspects of flying and maintaining aircraft and the associated weapon systems. The EOD dog team leader demonstrated the essentials of being a team. He discussed the science of how his dogs are trained to detect specific chemical compounds relative to explosive ordnance. In the air traffic control tower, they were able to see the various radar systems and understand the communication/ synchronization required from ground to air operations across civilian and military entities. Finally, the cadets were ecstatic about being able to enjoy and experience lunch in the naval air station dining facility. Our JROTC cadets were inspired and empowered. #AlvaradoExcellence
