The Wake Forest Organization Citizen of the Year 2016:

By Vivian Jones, Mayor Town of Wake Forest

Wake Forest Citizen of the Year Award.“The Wake Forest Organization of the Year award is given to a club or organization which has contributed significantly to the quality of life in Wake Forest during the current year. This year the honor goes to the Wake Forest High School Army Junior ROTC. This dedicated group of young men and women are simply amazing. It is always my pleasure to attend their activation ceremony at the beginning of the year and see their enthusiasm and discipline.

They are so willing to serve the community in many ways. They have volunteered to set up, manage traffic and parking, and clean up for the Classic Car Show, Beach Night on White, and Dirt Day.

Wake Forest Citicen of the Year AwardeesThey provide the Color Guard for the Christmas Parade and for the Wake Forest High School Football Games. They have provided the flag detail for most of the Flag Ceremonies at Town Hall when we honor deceased veterans.

And, if you have ever attended the Purple Heart Dinner, you have seen their moving ceremony honoring the Purple Heart recipients. They do an outstanding job showing their devotion, appreciation, and honor to the men and women who have sacrificed so much.

Wake Forest Citizen of the Year award ceremony We are so fortunate to have this outstanding group of cadets here in our community but we would be remiss if we did not recognize the two people who are their leaders. LTC Dimitri Belmont and CSM Ginger Cribb are wonderful leaders for this cadet troop. From my experience, they demand respect and discipline sprinkled with compassion, caring, and humor. They allow and encourage their troops to participate in community activities thereby helping to produce involved, dedicated young citizens.

Cadets LTC ( R) D Belmont, Cdt LTC E. Holst, Cdt Maj. A. Costantini, Cdt CSM J. Faneuf, Cdt 2LT J. Nguyen and Cdt 1LT J. HughesIt is my honor and privilege to present the 2016 Wake Forest Organ ization of the Year award to the Wake Forest High School Army Junior ROTC”.
