    Field Day

After no field day in 2020 due to COVID-19, Olympic returned back to its dominating form by sweeping both Boys and Girls Overall 1st Place in the 2021 COL Harry Reid CMS JROTC Field Day at Hough High School, Charlotte, NC. The teams competed in 8 events which include the 3-legged relay, 4x100 relay, 800 meter race, flex arm hang / pullups, Horse & Rider relay, simple relay and Tug-O-War. The competition was fierce but in the end the Trojan Brigade stood victorious. The Boy’s Team repeats as champions and the Girl’s team won its very first overall. “We felt very confident that we could win, our instructors put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that we were ready and our hard work paid off” says Brigade Executive Officer C/Ashley Rodriguez. The teams fared well in all events but the highly anticipated Tug-O-War was the highlight of the day. Both teams dominated the competition as the Girls Team repeated as Tug-O-War champs and the Boy’s Team repeated as overall Champions. “This was a great way to cap off my senior year, going out on top as back-to-back champs is the icing on the cake” stated Brigade Security Officer C/Favian Bernal.

In the end there were no losers, and all winners. The opportunity to compete amongst their peers, getting back to a sense of normalcy and creating life long memories was the real prize and the Mighty Trojan Brigade looks to retool and repeat next year. “WAY TO GO BIG O”
