This year's 2021 Book Study competition went terrific for our cadets. Their hard work and commitment are like no other. Considering their short span of time and time crunch, the Wildcat Battalion crushed it and shared their experience with other cadets in the program. They created an awesome presentation talking about how we as students can use lessons from the book by Admiral McRaven “Make Your Bed” and use it to help our society thrive. The key to success? The strong communication skills and always squeezing in time for work to be done.

The focus of the presentation was “Overcoming Obstacles.” One output of the presentation was forming a Garinger High School JROTC Club. The club is designed to give students a taste of our program and support students in their educational needs. So far nine members plan to JROTC in the second semester.

Our Book Study came before our esteemed judges on Zoom and spoke with them about their presentation and any of the questions the judges had to ask. The cadets waited eagerly the next day for their results and couldn't wait to hear what they had placed. The results were in and unfortunately Garinger did not advance to the finals. We are all so proud of our cadets inside our Book Study team and hope we can progress to do our best next year and achieve 1st place. We are so thankful for our team for putting their best effort into this competition.
