SAN ANTONIO, TX -- The Pleasanton High School JROTC Eagle Battalion, established on 28 September 2011 was awarded the Honor Unit with Distinction for an exemplary performance during their Tri-annual JROTC Program of Accreditation (JPA). The JPA inspection was conducted by 5th ROTC Brigade, headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, Texas on 5 February 2021.

All cadets in the JROTC Program, which includes students from Pleasanton, Jourdanton and Poteet High School spent the last several months preparing for the JPA with numerous internal competitions and events to prepare. All cadets prepared a portfolio that captures numerous examples of lessons learned in JROTC, personal goals, academic resumes, and accomplishments that will remain with them throughout their entire JROTC experience. Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the traditional face to face JPA was modified, however events such as a battalion internal drill and ceremony challenge, uniform inspection competition, daily cadet staff collaboration and Cadet Portfolio development, ensured that 100% of the cadets had a hand in the overall success of the battalion during the JPA.

Pleasanton High School JROTC Program JPA score of 96.9% is the best in school history. The Eagle Battalion will proudly wear the gold star for the next 3 years to display the sense of pride and accomplishment from attaining the Honor Unit with Distinction designation.
