During the past 7 months the pandemic has affected us all in many ways, as said by many, we are in the same storm but in a different boat. As the 2020/2021 academic school year progresses, we still find many JROTC units and Cadets performing distant learning, which has many challenges, and Garfield High School Army JROTC, Los Angeles, is no exception. In order to maintain an equal balance, many must consider a balance approach with academics, physical fitness, nutrition, mental wellness and self-care. One of the many approaches that SSG Terry Buckhannon of Garfield High School Army JROTC has taken, by being a credentialed Physical Education teacher is ensuring physical wellness and encouraging a balance of physical activity, nutrition, mental wellbeing coupled with the 5 components of physical fitness, 1. Muscular strength 2. Muscular endurance 3. Cardiovascular Endurance 4. Flexibility 5. Body Composition.
