MESQUITE, TX -- On 14 November 2019, Mesquite High School’s Skeeter Battalion participated and volunteered at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid, Mesquite, TX.

The Cadets walked on different types of terrain (pavement, rocks w/ sand and only sand), to understand the plight of children without any shoes. The 19 Cadets sorted and packed over 200 pairs of shoes for vulnerable children both locally and internationally. The Skeeter Battalion also wrote encouraging words of hope for the children; that will receive shoes. The Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid has a similar vision and mission to Mesquite High School; they believe in the following:

  • We welcome everyone with love and respect.
  • We begin with family strengthening.
  • We empower for independence.
  • We deliver our programs with the highest quality of service.
