BATON ROUGE, LA -- U.S. Army Cadet Autumn Spears received a National Army Scholarship from the Department of The Army for having achieved a meritorious record in academic studies, extracurricular participation, and athletic activities. Autumn demonstrated exceptional leadership potential as a SMHS student and Cadet. She is the first Scotlandville JROTC Cadet to be awarded a National ROTC Scholarship. The competition for an Army ROTC scholarship involves many of the finest students in the country. Autumn's accomplishment is absolutely commendable. I sincerely congratulate the administration, faculty and staff for providing an educational environment that allows our students to prosper, compete and excel in an academic environment that is second to none. Autumn truly epitomize what is expected of our students here at Scotlandville Magnet High School.
Autumn's academic, athletic and leadership abilities enabled her to compete and win this most prestigious scholarship.
