LOS ANGELES, CA -- On October 29, 2019 the Garfield High School community along with the Garfield High School Army JROTC had the golden opportunity to celebrate the 100th year birthday celebration with Mrs. Laura Encinas Clark. She graduated from Garfield High school in 1938, she went on to become a Psychiatric Nurse, live through World War II , the Great Depression, Korean War, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, and other American conflicts abroad and 18 Presidents.

Her only 100th birthday wish was to come back to her alma mater Garfield Field where she was welcomed along with her family with utmost royalty, members from the Garfield High School Staff and Faculty, students, JROTC, Local School District, and members from the Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Office. JROTC members as well as other in attendance were in complete amazement of her presence, mobility and humor.
