FLAGSTAFF, AZ --The Coconino High School JROTC Color Guard from Flagstaff, AZ, along with veterans from the Lori Piestewa Post 80 of the American Legion, opened the 2019 Statewide Tribal Veterans Symposium on 1 November 2019 at the Twin Arrows Conference Center on the Navajo Nation. The Statewide Tribal Veterans Symposium, organized by Congressman Tom O'Halleran (D-AZ) and others, provided an opportunity to bring Tribal Veterans, Military Service Members, Families Members, and Service Providers together from all 22 tribes within Arizona. This was a day of honoring Arizona Tribal Veterans as well as having the opportunity to learn how to provide services in a culturally appropriate way, and to work towards building and strengthening partnerships/relationships with Tribal Veteran agencies. The JROTC Cadets were able to be part of that greater partnership, working with veteran honor guards and learning first-hand of a significant part of our heritage.
