FORT WORTH, TX -- Eight Cadets from Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School JROTC led two classes of Meacham Middle School students in a STEM activity. The two classes were of the Meacham Middle School Junior Cadet Corps (JCC) program. The STEM activity was to make a lava lamp using vegetable oil, water, food color, and effervescent tablets. During the activity our Cadets led discussions on topics like density, miscible and non-miscible liquids. The JCC Cadets were fantastic as they participated in the activity. The JCC instructors, Retired Master Sergeant Campbell and Retired Gunnery Sergeant Tucker presented classes regarding the STEM activity the day prior to the event so their Cadets would be able to understand and participate. Our Cadets involved were Julian Banda (9th grade), Stephanie Casarrubias (12th grade), Dario Castro (12th grade), Lizbeth Flores (11th grade), Ashley Gonzalez Castaneda (9th grade), Manuel Luna (10th grade), Alexis Martinez (12th grade), and Angel Zuniga (10th grade). We are looking forward to the next STEM activity which is scheduled to be conducted in November.
