FORT WORTH, TX -- Cadet First Lieutenant Christian Vaquera is a junior at R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. As a LET III, he is the team leader for the Panther Battalion armed color guard team. He currently maintains a GPA of 4.1 and he aspires to be a heart surgeon. For 2 weeks in the summer of July 2019, Cadet Vaquera attended John Hopkins University as a participant in Program Envision which is a medical leadership summer training module that exposes high school students to the daily rigors of a medical student/ intern. The program is designed to empower, engage, and equip next generation leaders to realize the power of their potential with amazing hands-on career exploration, state-of-the-art simulations, and experiences.

Christian worked diligently to raise the funds necessary for travel and lodging to attend the camp. His individual planning and coordination, initiative and tenacity contributed to him raising more than enough funds to make the trip. He had the opportunity to participate in seminars, group projects and was able to see firsthand some of the challenges a medical student would experience as an intern.

Cadet Vaquera is a leader among his peers and represents the very best of JROTC. He genuinely cares for others and encourages others to be their absolute best.
