SAN JOSE, NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS -- For a fresh start of the school year 2019-2020, the Tinian Jr./Sr. High School’s JROTC Stallion Battalion had newly appointed leaders that will lead their companies with honor and dignity. The Color Guard team made up of Cadet Pvt. Chad Acollador, Cadet Pvt. First Class Chit Acollador, Cadet Pv1. Wade Santos, Cadet Pvt. Gio Vergara, and Cadet Pvt. Fyema Pelaez, was commanded Cadet Command Sgt. Maj. Julia Biton. On the completion of the national anthem and CNMI hymn, the Battalion Executive Officer Cadet First Lt. Keyla Flores, marched the detachment towards the area they were to be promoted. Assisting in the promotion was the Senior Army Instructor Captain Joseph Santos along with the Cadet’s parent.
Each Cadet was promoted to the rank assigned and indicated as follows:
- Cadet Captain Flores, Keyla
- Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Shrestha, Kiran
- Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Cielo Long
- Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Angel Lagunay
- Cadet 1st Lieutenant Dea Patio
- Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Isa Long
- Cadet Captain Charlene Danganan
- Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Tasi Long
- Cadet 2nd Lieutenant Joshua Masga
Shortly after each Cadet was promoted, a picture of him/her with his/her parent was taken. The detachment, excluding the newly promoted Company Commanders, was then marched out by the Battalion Executive Officer. Once the staff returned to their company, Headquarters Company, the Assumption of Command Ceremony commenced. The Cadet First Sgt. passed the guide-on to the reviewing officer, who then handed the guide-on and all they represented to the new commander. Thusly, the new commander returned the guide-on to the Cadet First Sgt. who then passed the guide-on to the Guide-on Bearer--an enlisted Cadet that holds the responsibility of bearing the flag that represents so much to his/her fellow Cadets.
The Battalion Commander Cadet Lt. Col. Anne Sanchez instructed the Company Commanders to take charge of their units. The ceremony ended with each company sounding off with their company motto. The Stallion Battalion gives a warm appreciation to the parents and everyone else that came to watch the Assumption of Command ceremony. We are all looking forward to a special school year and the many JROTC events to come. H O O A H !
