SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Sam Houston High School had a great success with one of our JROTC Cadets recently. This student went from a troubled young freshman on the verge of getting removed from the program to now serving as the units Command Sergeant Major. His rise was not easy, but as he closes on the finish-line of his high school career the staff has seen how fate has begun to thrust him in the direction of positive outcomes.
This Sam Houston Cadet has overcome some pretty tragic issues such as mental anguish, resulting from family issues and homelessness to now being on the cusp of beginning his new life within the ranks of our military. In spite of his issues our Cadet persevered and made it to senior year and is tracking to have the credits necessary to graduate. He also prepared himself to take the ASVAB by using the websites marchtosuccess.com and 4TEST.com with the end result of scoring a 70 on his official test and placing him in the A category for future job choices. We are extremely proud of this young Cadet as he is also rightly proud of himself, but in true fashion to his character he will serve as Schools NCO for the Battalion and help other Cadets and students prepare for the ASVAB here at Sam Houston High school.
The Battalion and Cadre has watched this Cadet grow and mature and now many of Cadets plan to follow in his footsteps. His success makes all the hard work and patience given to the Cadets truly worthwhile for the cadre as we and the Cadets can witness what success can look like.
