WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Wednesday, 14 November, 2018, the Hopi Jr./ Sr. High School Bruin Battalion Color Guard Team traveled to Washington D.C, under the supervision of Sergeant Major Larry L.T. Newton Jr. to participate in the 2018 Hopi Festival. The team members consisted of Cadet LTC Jeanine Gaseoma, Cadet Major Anita Antone, Cadet CSM Leyton Klee, Cadet SFC Christina Shupla, and Cadet Private Mariah Namingha. This event was held at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. The Color Guards mission was to post and retire the Colors on Saturday and Sunday (17th & 18th November, 2018). The Cadets were provided a day of sightseeing and touring. They visited famous sites such as the Lincoln Memorial, the US Capital Building, The Martin Luther King Memorial, and the Air and Space Museum. For some of them, it was their first time being out of state or traveling on an airplane. It was an honor for us to represent Hopi Jr. / Sr. High School and the community.
