FLAGSTAFF, AZ -- This past weekend 21-22 Sep, PXU JROTC teams competed in the CHU 1 Adventure Team competition in Flagstaff, AZ. The competition comprises of five events, which a team of ten Cadets (must include two females) compete in. The events are Orienteering, Endurance Run, Rope Bridge, Leader's reaction course, and First Aid. This is the first part of the overall Adventure Team competition, and the second half of the competition will be held at Maryvale HS on Oct 19 to crown a champion.

Two Cadets from Maryvale HS, Cadets Julissa Navarro and Cadet Diego Guerrero received the coveted PXU JROTC challenge coin for excellence. The two cadets were competing in the Orienteering course when they spotted an injured cadet from Camelback. The Cadets immediately came to the aid of the hurt cadet, and carried her back to the Orienteering start point. The Maryvale cadets did this knowing that they would be disqualified for not finishing the course, jeopardizing their team's chance at placing in this event. The PXU DAI recognized their sportsmanship conduct and courage in doing the right thing. Winning in life. These cadets represent #ThisIsWhoWeAre!
