PHOENIX, AZ -- SFC(R) Joe Hernandez (PHUSD JROTC MPS) was recently awarded the Phoenix Union High School District Center of Education Excellence the Employee of the Year for SY 18-19. This is the first time a JROTC Instructor has been awarded this type of award in Phoenix Union. SFC Hernandez was acknowledged recently at the JROTC School of Cadet Command Logistics Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky, by Mr Jim Wood, Chief of Training & Operations.
SFC Hernandez's award nomination included the following:
"SFC (R) Joe Hernandez has excelled above the definition and scope of his contractual and regulatory duties and responsibilities as the PUHSD JROTC Military Property Specialist. Responsible for servicing all matters of JROTC logistics, finance and contacting, SFC Hernandez utilizes his experienced background in the classroom to accurate forecast, receive, and distribute a wide variety of goods and services for PUHSD JROTC programs and Cadets. As a recognized JROTC logistics Subject Matter Expert SFC Hernandez has been requested to conduct JROTC inventory/supply compliance inspections across Arizona in preparation for the 2019 United States Army Cadet Command JROTC AdvancED Certification. Additionally in SY 2018-2019 SFC Hernandez has been invited to participate as a JROTC Logistics Instructor at the regional and national level. SFC Hernandez commitment to the JROTC concept of motivating young people to better citizens stretches beyond the geographical boundaries of PUHSD to reach and prepare all students to be successful in college, career and life. As the largest JROTC program in Arizona, this commitment beyond the PUHSD borders cements PUHSD JROTC’s state wide leadership role."
