Weston Ranch High School JROTC invited to present the National Colors for Oakland Raiders home game:
The Weston Ranch High School (Stockton CA ,8th Brigade) was invited by the California National Guard(Recruiting Battalion), and the Oakland Raiders to present the National Colors to The Oakland Raiders last home game of the season against the Buffalo Bills. Earlier in the year, Weston Ranch High School was given this opportunity to present for a pre-season game in which the Oakland Raiders were hosting the Detroit Lions.
This organization is given this opportunity to present the colors in large part because the kids have such a great mature level and great deal of confidence in their preparation to accomplish this task. After school ends and most kids are having fun, our color guard is always out at the basketball courts practicing their routines and the LET 4’s and Let 3’s are training the young Let 1’s to fill their shoes in the years to come. LTC Mike Cerezo is always emphasizing to his upper level cadets to always mentor and train the younger cadets. During the Bills game, the cadets were given the opportunity to take a picture with HOF Oakland Raiders TV announcer Lincoln Kennedy.
C/1sg Nancy Aguilar- My experience at the Raiders vs. Bills game was something incredible. It was an honor being able to step on the same field that the Raiders play on. The Oakland Raiders are my favorite team, when I found out that I was going to have the chance to do this game I started freaking out. I would have never thought that I would be given this chance but I could only thank my instructor SFC Reyes for this. He has taught me many things and has given me the chance to have these memorable experiences. SFC Reyes and LTC Cerezo have done so much for the battalion, I can't thank them enough. All in all I had a great time, I would love to do this again.
C/1sg Teresa Novoa- The Raiders v. Bills game was the first experience I had ever had at a professional football stadium, let alone on the field presenting the American colors. Nothing makes someone as proud as representing a program that has changed their lives. It’s so hard to imagine yourself as a sophomore doing events on such a large scale, but this was something that I highly enjoyed and would love to do again. The Raider staff was wonderful and it helped to know we were in such capable hands. I want to give a huge thank you to everyone involved in providing Weston Ranch JROTC cadets this amazing opportunity.
C/Major James Jennings-It was such a great experience getting to do color guard for the Oakland Raiders/Bills game. Getting to do the opening ceremony for an NFL game is such an overwhelming feeling, it really is something I won't forget. I had a great time, thanks to SFC Reyes for taking us. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity that not very many schools get to take part in.
