SDSU and JROTC partner for STEM Camp:

For the fourth consecutive year, the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) JROTC Program has partnered with the College of Engineering at San Diego State University (SDSU) to offer fifty-six cadets the opportunity to attend the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) camp this summer. The program was a fully-funded, five day immersive experience on the SDSU campus from July 29th-August 2nd, 2014.
While living on-campus and attending classes, students were introduced to the rigors of engineering, bio-medical sciences, robotics, and bio-technology. They conducted hands-on activities such as building and programming robots, dissecting fetal pigs, designing and testing bridges, and practicing modern day forensic techniques.

On the final day, cadets took part in project presentations and a graduation ceremony. The cadets were able to share their projects and new knowledge with friends and family.  Generous benefactors donated various electronics that were given to randomly selected cadets, and all cadets received certificates of completion.  STEM Camp was made possible by the support of Dr. Bruce Westermo, Associate Dean in the College of Engineering at SDSU, and LTC David Guzman, the SDUSD JROTC Program Manager.
