John H. Reagan HS “Rough Riders” the new 2015 Grand National Drill Champions:
John H. Reagan High School in Houston, Texas is the home of the new 2015 Grand National Drill Champions. On Monday, May 6th, The Army JROTC "Rough Riders Drill Team" was crowned the National Champions at the 2015 National High School Drill Team Championships competition at Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Rough Riders out performed over 100 other high school JROTC units from across the nation, to include JROTC teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. This is the first time that John H. Reagan JROTC, let alone a Houston area team, has ever won the National Championship title.
It was a long and hard year of practicing. The Cadets were at school before students arrived and stayed late every day to practice and perfect their skills. They even dedicated weekends to preparing for the competition. Besides practicing drill, many hours were spent fund raising to support the trip. Our principle, Ms. Berger, fully supported the JROTC Program and greatly assisted with raising funds for the Cadets.
Winning the National Championship is the pinnacle of years of dedication, practice, commitment and striving to be the best that you can be!
Over 31 Cadets from the John H. Reagan High School Army JROTC competed in the events winning nine national level trophies, the honor received include:
Grand National Championship Trophy
1st Place Squad Exhibition Drill
1st Place Platoon Exhibition Drill
2nd Place National Solo Exhibition performance
3rd Place National Solo Exhibition performance
2nd Place National Dual Exhibition performance
4th Place Regulation Drill performance

Congratulations to the John H. Reagan High School "Rough Riders" for a job well done!
