Central Wyoming Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year:

Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming select Cadet Sierra White of John A. Holmes High School in Edenton, NC. as their Youth of the Year.

Cadet White started attending the B&G Club at age 10. She began attending because she was bullied. The Boys and Girls club was a safe fun place. She enjoyed the experiences at the club. Her favorite staff member is Gary the Teen Coordinator.

Her favorite activity was the trips the club made. One of Cadet White’s talents is singing. She and her mother sang together all the time. So, during the opening ceremonies Cadet White exhibited her talents by singing “God Bless America.” When asked why she was selected; she says, “I think, I was selected because look at the positive things in life rather than focusing on the tradgies I have experienced. I also believe the judges saw how much I have overcome and how I choose to keep moving forward.

JROTC has assisted her with the ability to look forward. It gave her confidence to succeed. JROTC provides leadership experiences she could bring to Boys and Girls Club.
